Casinos

There are around 50 casinos on or near the Las Vegas strip and over 140 in total. That doesn’t include bars with a video poker machine or two. In other words, you really won’t have to go far to find somewhere to lose invest your cash.

The following recommendations, as with every section in this guide, are the places I personally would go to for a few hours betting action. I’ve taken into account the venue itself, gaming rules, betting minimums, other amenities, staff attitude and cocktail service… because that’s why we’re really there!

Bear in mind that your mileage might vary dependant on day/time, staff on duty, how busy the venue is etc,.

Plaza

1 Main Street

Plaza

Besides having the best address in town, Plaza is one of of my favourite places to gamble in Las Vegas. It’s at the end of Fremont Street making it accessible, but not as crazy as some casinos under the canopy.

The table minimums are perfectly suited to the low-roller, with $5 Craps readily available round the clock. There’s also a wealth of slot machines catering to all tastes, including an area specifically devoted to every style of Wheel Of Fortune ever invented.

Plaza also has the only Single 0 Roulette game in the downtown area. This is a rarity in a city now pushing Triple 0 in many casinos. They also have the only Bingo game on Fremont Street in a huge upstairs room.

Drinks service is on point and there’s a great selection of beverages to be had on the floor or at one of the bars. The stand out here for me is the friendliness of the staff. Dealers, bar staff and cocktail waitressess go out of their way to be fun and make you feel part of the family.

The resorst has great dining options from convenient Pop Up Pizza to the old shool swank of Oscar’s.
